Hiding til Spring

It's been raining a lot.  I've been sleeping a lot.  Actually no more than usual, although mom has been documenting my sleeps often.

Every year for the last few years I've begun each year thinking maybe I'd post here more often than I did the year before.  It turns out 2016 saw fewer posts from me than any year previous.  Oh well, can't blame a guy for his good intentions.

Mom and I hope you have a lovely end-of-year holiday season, and a good year ahead.  Make sure you batten down the hatches and grab yourself by your boots, though, because we're in for one wild ride ahead.

Peace and meows

I'm really glad I'm a well-loved cat with a secure home.  All hell is about to break loose.  Actually, there might be a bit of a reprieve for a couple months, but then the shit is going to hit the fan.

I have no worries, personally, for which I'm unimaginably grateful.  My deepest compassion for all the other beings, animal and otherwise, in this country, the world, and the planet.

More shall be revealed.

I'm Famous!

Mom took this photo of my last night, and now she's using it as her new avatar on Facebook.  So I'm famous!  Not that I wasn't before, since she'd been using an earlier photo of me for eons.

I love my 'tude in this image.

Happy Autumn!

Cool Pix

Mom recently got this gizmo called a "tablet," and she's been trying out a lot of photo apps on it.  And I'm her subject.  She either takes new photos of me and tinkers with them, or uses old photos to do the same.  Kinda cool, huh?

Holy Cat!

It's been so long since mom posted for me, that I made her promise to post all the photos she's taken in the last month or so, that she's been hoarding.  So here I am, in my many moods.

Trying to blend in with the stack of ecodyed fabric I'm lounging on.  Mom always finds me though, wherever I manage to "hide."

Writing my memoirs...

I speak, mom writes.  Here I'm giving her "the look" because she's editing my words as I speak and I'm not particularly happy about it.  Guess I should be grateful that she's playing my scribe.

The N-word

In my world the "N" word is "NO."  I'm still not exactly sure what that word means, but there are times when mom uses it a lot, and rather emphatically too. So I have a pretty good idea it means I'm not supposed to do something.

Mom's been working intensely on a stitched and beaded project for a couple weeks.  And I'm a thread freak.  You do the math.  Sometimes I'll be good, on my best behavior, and I'll sit and watch her work as I am in the photo.  I'll watch that thread wiggle and jump around and I'll be keeping my paws to myself...and then suddenly, I can't stand it any longer and I'll reach out and try to catch it.  Right about then I'll hear NO!  So I'll pull my paw back, momentarily chastised, until I do it again.  At which point I get gently scooted off the table.

I've spent a lot of time this last couple weeks in self-imposed quiet time, on the rug behind where mom's working or up on my perch.

Hide nor Hair

Sorry you haven't seen hide nor hair from me in a while.  We've been staying under the radar here in Rose Cottage.  Mom's on a blog break, and I had to twist her arm with my paws this morning to get her to write this post for me.

After a day or two of unprecedented April heat last week, we're back to recalcitrant spring, the kind that comes and goes sometimes right into summer.  We'll see how things unfold in the coming weeks.

Hope you all have a great spring.  Like mom said on her blog, "I'll see you when I see you."

My Blue Period

Like Picasso, I'm having a blue period.  I'm not really blue -- it's just a digital camera thing.

Mom's birthday is this week.  She's getting older, although a lot more slowly than I am.  I passed her up in people-years a couple of cat-years ago.  Guess I have to be the parent in the family now.

Happy late winter.  After a decent amount of rain, and hopefully some still to come, we've had rather splendid spring weather on the North Coast lately.  Whatever.

Not a Peep (or a Meow)

I'm just keeping my head down and minding my own business these days.  Trying to keep a low profile.  This is how mom lives, and I'm following suit.

Two of my favorite things

Boxes and papers.  Need I say more?
