Conciliatory Cathood

Okay, I win...have it your way...whatever! I'm still bigger than you are! -- although you're fast catching up to me.

Life is actually mellowing out measurably. I slept on my perch last night, Kirby slept next to Mom. I'm less isolated than I've been in the last few months, more available. Kirby still harasses me but more of the time it doesn't bother me that much. Right now I'm on the back of the couch while Mom's typing and watching the evening news (Rachel Maddow again). We're Progressives here at home although I try not to spend time thinking about politics, other than the feline politics in the house, of course.

Mark Twain once said, the worst winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco! That about sums up early summer weather on the North Coast. Cool, foggy, damp.

It's a good thing we've got Kirby now...because Mom came home from work today and told Dad about all the adorable kittens getting ready to be adopted from Sequoia Humane Society. Like as if she were thinking of bringing another one home! She assured me she's just admiring them, and I think she really means just that. We're a two cat family and that's it!

p.s. Mom just found me in my new hiding place. Maybe I'll let her upload a photo of me there, next post.

Watching and Waiting

One of our finer moments together here, watching the world go by outside the office window.

Right now I'm lazing about on the living room carpet dictating to Mom, who's watching Rachel Maddow on MSNBC while she's typing. Boy, I'm glad I don't have to worry about things like environmental disasters and massive oil spills. My biggest concern is whether I can get up on the bed at night without getting sacked by Kirby. Oh yeah, and that Kirby has comandeered my perch in the bedroom, meaning I don't hang out there very much any more.

Rats! I think I've become a terrible bore. I hope you won't think any less of me because I don't have anything witty to say.

Guess I'll go take a nap now. Ciao, catfans!

Up On The Edge of My Perch

I'm so jazzed about this new Blogger thing that I'll likely be posting more often, now. Or at least until the glitz wears off. But I'm really stoked. You can see I switched back to the bamboo forest background. I think I'll stay here for a while.

Things have quieted down around the house, much of the time anyway. Kirby and I still have our scuffles. But he's a little calmer than he was, thankfully, so I'm not feeling quite as on edge. Dad's been sick and sleeping on the couch for the last week, so our sleep patterns are somewhat different than usual.

I've been feeling self contained, I keep to myself more. Sometimes I'll just plunk myself down on the carpet on the edge of the room and watch life by go. I suppose you could say I've become more meditative, more serene...more sagacious, perhaps. I'm hoping I'm not becoming arrogant and snooty!

Well, it's time to eat supper. See you later, catfans.

...or is it P.S.S.? I've always wondered. Anyhow, I'm having an identity crisis tonight...can't you tell?

Aunty Jan commented that the bamboo background gave her vertigo -- so I changed it! I'm such a people pleaser!

Indoor Outdoor Cats

SO MUCH has been going on since I last wrote! How d'ya like my new blog? Mom's really excited because just this evening, Blogger added lots of cool options for customizing blogs, lots of new templates. So I selected one that looks like I'm reporting from inside a bamboo forest -- which makes me feel like I'm an outdoor cat even though I'm an indoor cat. Cool, huh?

So, last week I was showing signs of stress again, and Mom took me to see Dr. Jay this past Monday. The doc was so proud of me because I've lost nearly 2.5 pounds in just two months! He gave me a cortisone shot for my itching and licking, now my skin is clearing up again, and I've been much more mellow. Bored, in fact, in the absence of that constant fastidious personal hygiene.

The stress, of course, has been due to my still not quite being with the program of having another cat in my life. Mom even hinted that maybe she'd sadly have to give Kirby up if I just couldn't handle it. Wasn't that nice of her? To pay Mom back for her big heart, I decided to buck up and be a mature cat, and get over the new cat thing. I was a new cat once, too.

It's still not really summer here, yet. True, it's a few days away yet, officially. But I have a sneaking suspicious that we're going to move from spring right into fall this year.

Well, write and let me know how you like my new Blogger digs! Thanks for reading, catfans.
